The stunning ‘House Style’ exhibition at Chatsworth House is on until 22nd October, if you get a chance to go we would thoroughly recommend it. If you’re not local to the Derbyshire area, it’s the perfect excuse for a short break!  In their own words it’s ‘An exhibition exploring 5 centuries of fashion and adornment at Chatsworth.’ Explore online: www.chatsworth.org

The exhibition has been curated with a very light hand, the Duchess has raided the attics at Chatsworth to produce exquisite arrangements of clothes worn by successive generations up to the present day.  Nothing is overdone, there is just enough to move you through eagerly from one amazing room to another.

We loved everything; the coronation robes and royal regalia, the wedding dresses, the mourning dresses, the contemporary couture dresses and all the little personal items, including delicate jewellery in glass topped display cases, each piece with a description of its story, beautifully hand written on gold embossed cards. There was even a tweed outfit which reminded us of our Evie Blazer (J219) in our current collection! This mesmerizing Galliano dress stole the attention all visitors, simply stunning.

After the visit we enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the café, watched over by this intrepid duck who was floating around in the fountain at the centre of the courtyard, like you do….
