Where does the time go, the Easter bunny has caught us ‘on the hop’, we can’t believe it’s come round already!

Up here in Northumberland the weather is looking great for the long Easter weekend  with daffodils suddenly bursting forth everywhere. We thought we’d share these pics of from our friend Ann Cudworth’s  home bakery, Doughworks.  

Ann runs baking classes from her home kitchen and this week she’s been running classes on  how to make fantastic home made hot cross buns with a twist – the secret ingredient?  Guinness!  Mmmm….

Our favourite go to confectioner at Easter is Bettys of Harrogate.  Famed for their magnificent tea rooms across Yorkshire in Harrogate, York and their hidden gem in Northallerton (thankfully there’s usually no queuing, unlike at their more famous outposts, so we always make a detour off the A1 or A19 to pop in to their delightful place on Northallerton High Street).  

Here’s our Easter top tip: if you ever need to send a special present to anyone (and you can’t find anything at Lily Ella!)  we can highly recommend Betty’s mail order service, everything is always beautifully presented and tastes wonderful.  Their boxed fondant fancies are always a massive hit and of course they also send cakes and chocolates off all descriptions.
